Intended For Me To Be

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.

- Ephesians 1:13 (NIV)

It seems like it was such a long time ago that I remember sitting outside. I'd had a small surgery a few days before and it was a gorgeous day to sit outside. It made me feel alive again. God seems to draw me to nature when I need emotional, physical or spiritual healing. I was sitting there and looked down on the ground at all the little acorns that adorned my backyard. I picked one up and was admiring the design of it. It was so smooth, it's color a rich chocolate brown and coming down to a fine point tip. But something was missing that took away from it's completeness: the top. I looked back down on the ground and found a top. When I slipped it on the top of the acorn the picture was then complete.

It made me think of myself. How, without the seal of the Holy Spirit, I am also incomplete. Yet, when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and He came to live within me... He sealed me with the Holy Spirit. My top was on. I was a complete picture. Able to grow into what God had intended for me to be.

Prayer: Father God, today and every day that you gift us with, may we strive to be the people You intended for us to be. Amen!
